Texas School, Hawaii, WPPI and Las Vegas {Kauai and Texas Portrait and Wedding Photographers}

Ok, so I have to say I have failed miserably as a blog poster in the first quarter of this year. We started out the year with registering for Texas School¬†and were pleasantly surprised when we all got the classes we were wanting to take. I will be taking Elizabeth and Trey Homan’s class where we will be focusing a lot of family portraiture, Ashley will be taking Kay Eskridge’s class on boudoir photography and Robert got into Martin Grahame-Dunne’s class only to learn that it had to be cancelled so now he will be attending Joel Grimes’ class on The Art of Creating. Going to Texas School for us is a big deal and we look forward to it every year. This year we will be taking our youngest daughter but newest member of the family business with us so that she too can benefit for this incredibly fast paced but really fun learning environment. Texas School is coming up at the end of April and as always I will be working up to the last minute…so I see in my future a couple of sleepless nights coming up! At the end of January we traveled to Kauai where we own a timeshare and spent a week taking in the sites of Kauai again. The weather was gorgeous and we met some of the nicest people there. Robert and I got our first taste of yoga and our instructor was kind enough to allow us to photograph her one evening. Below are a few images from our trip and a couple of our model for the day.

After getting back from our trip to Kauai, it was time to get back to work and prepare for the next couple of months. We shot one wedding in February at the Spicewood Winery in Spicewood, Texas and dealt with the rain coming down in buckets but it didn’t dampen the spirits of our bride and groom. The following Sunday was the Brazos Valley Bridal Association’s Spring Bridal Show and Benefit. I think we got in from the wedding at about 2am and then had to be up bright and early in the morning to put together our display on top of the fact that we would be leaving town at 3pm to make a 4pm flight to Las Vegas to attend WPPI for our very first time. It was a great day and we were really excited to meet so many new brides, but it was also an extremely hard day as we would be traveling and everything had to be ready. The flight to Las Vegas took a bit-didn’t make the first trip out so had to sit around Dallas for a while but finally got into Las Vegas around 1am Dallas time. What a trip! I’ve included a few images of The Fremont Street Experience as it was probably the most fun we had while we were there besides visiting with other photographers and learning lots and lots. Below are some images from Las Vegas and Hoover Dam.
